Efficient Modbus gateways for industrial communication solutions

Engineers and system integrators face numerous challenges when implementing reliable and flexible communication solutions in industrial environments. A typical example is the integration of existing serial Modbus RTU/ASCII devices into an Ethernet network.

With the new tGW-700 series Modbus TCP to RTU/ASCII gateways, Modbus/TCP hosts can easily communicate with Modbus RTU/ASCII serial devices over an Ethernet network, overcoming the cable length limitations of traditional serial communication devices. Within the series, you can make a selection regarding the number and combination of COM ports. Optionally, the gateways offer you the possibility of the so-called I/O pair connection (or serial tunnel). This function enables communication between two serial Modbus RTU/ASCII devices via the TCP/IP interface of the gateway.

A special feature of the tGW-700 series is the read cache function. This stores previous requests and responses in the module's memory buffer.

When other HMI/SCADA master controllers send the same requests to the same RTU slave device, the cached response is returned immediately. This function significantly reduces the utilization on the RS-485 bus and ensures fast response times and significantly improves the stability of the entire system.

The tGW-700 (Non-T) series supports PoE (Power over Ethernet) in accordance with IEEE 802.3af (Class 1), so the modules can be supplied with power as a PD (Powered Device) via a PoE switch. If no PoE switch is available, the module can also be supplied with power via a DC power supply unit as an alternative. The tGW-700 series is also designed for extremely low power consumption, allowing you to permanently increase energy efficiency and reduce energy costs in your company.

The operating temperature of -25 to +75°C, the wide-range voltage input of 12 to 48 VDC, the option of top-hat rail mounting and the compact form factor make the tGW-700 series ideal for industrial use, allowing you to easily integrate it into existing systems.
