Foreword from Roger Bärlocher

Dear customers,

Today we would like to celebrate a special milestone - our 20th company anniversary! It is a time of gratitude, looking back and looking forward to the future.

We would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt thanks to you, our valued customers.

Your loyalty and support have made us what we are today. Without you, we would not be here. Your loyalty and trust are the engine that drives our company.

Over these years, we have experienced ups and downs together. We have evolved to always offer you the best products and the best service. Your suggestions and feedback have helped us to improve and grow.

However, this anniversary should not only be a review of past achievements, but also an incentive for future successes. We are determined to continue to provide you with high quality solutions/services and excellent customer service.

We look forward to continuing our success with you in the future. Your satisfaction is our greatest concern.

Best wishes from Winterthur

Interview with Bruno Schait

Spectra (Schweiz) AG is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. What does this mean to you personally and what are you particularly proud of?
For me, it means first and foremost being very satisfied that we have always managed to stay in the black despite occasional, severe adversity in the economic environment, and that we have been able to achieve continuous, self-financed growth. I am particularly proud that we have always been able to offer our employees job security over 20 years and that we have always had a good, collegial relationship with our parent company in Germany.

Tell us how it all started in 2004 and what were the decisive impulses for the founding of Spectra (Schweiz) AG?
After selling my former company Schait Elektronik AG to a Dutch group after more than 25 years, I spent three years as a business coordinator in the European environment. My job was to integrate my know-how in the field of industrial PCs, automation and network technology into the various subsidiaries of the group. However, when this group was sold to another group, the focus and the new tasks also changed. This prompted me to leave the group in order to find a new direction.

I had a long friendship with Mr. Lang, the owner of Spectra GmbH in Germany at the time, as we had often been to trade fairs and joint suppliers in Taiwan over many years to get to know the latest products. As Spectra GmbH did not have a representative in Switzerland at that time, it was obvious to contribute my know-how to a new company founded for this purpose. That was the birth of Spectra (Schweiz) AG in 2004.

In its anniversary year, Spectra (Schweiz) AG presents itself as an economically sound company. What were the biggest challenges?
One of the biggest challenges was certainly winning back my former customers from my previous company after an absence of over 4 years on the Swiss industrial market. But with a lot of commitment and hard work, we were able to win back many former customers and build up new ones.

It was also a stroke of luck that I was able to win over the current Managing Director Roger Bärlocher, a former employee of my original company. He has been running the company since 2014, while I am now only Chairman of the Board of Directors, i.e. no longer operationally active.

You have taken part-time retirement. This has given you something valuable back. What is your favorite way to spend your free time today?
I've always done sport (tennis, skiing, jogging), even though I was never a top athlete. Nowadays, I often go out on my e-bike or on long hikes. In summer, I enjoy Lake Zurich. Traveling is still a great passion for me. I love getting to know other countries and cultures.

What does the future hold for Spectra, what challenges, tasks or projects does the company face?
A company that operates in a technical environment is constantly faced with numerous challenges. If only because the technical environment changes very quickly. You have to be able to keep up with it. Equally challenging is the shortage of skilled workers. Here we are in competition with the major players in the metal and electrical industry. It is important to present Spectra (Schweiz) AG as an attractive employer.

If you had one wish for your company, what would it be?
That the next 20 years are just as successful as the last.
